Passion Facade of the Sagrada Familia
The Passion Facade is one of the most striking and dramatic elements of the Sagrada Familia, designed by Antoni Gaudí and later completed by sculptor Josep Maria Subirachs. This facade represents the final moments of Christ’s life, vividly capturing his suffering, sacrifice, and death.
The design is marked by sharp, angular forms and powerful symbolism, with each scene and figure meticulously crafted to convey the pain and intensity of Christ’s passion. The facade's striking sculptures include scenes like the Last Supper, the Crucifixion, and the Burial, each one imbued with deep emotional meaning.
Unlike the more organic and naturalistic elements found in other parts of the basilica, the Passion Facade features a modernist style with stark, almost harsh lines, reflecting the brutal reality of Christ’s sacrifice.
Visitors can admire this evocative and thought-provoking facade from the ground level, but it can also be viewed from higher vantage points around the Sagrada Familia, where the powerful scenes gain an even greater emotional impact.
